Following in his Footsteps; Park Education Programs

"My sentiments are perfectly in unison with yours sir, that the best means of forming a manly, virtuous and happy people, will be found in the right education of youth. Without this foundation, every other means, in my opinion, must fail."

-George Washington letter to George Chapman
December 15, 1784

Welcome teachers and other educators! George Washington Birthplace National Monument is a resource for cross-curricular activities in science, history, social studies, language arts, and math that meet national and state learning standards.

The park is currently developing resources for educators to bring the park to their students, including: ranger-led education programs, ranger visits to the classroom, pre-written lesson plans for teachers to utilize in the park, and more. We hope to be able to offer these resources for the 2024-25 school year.

For the spring 2024 season, we are only able to offer the park facilities and grounds for teachers to be able to bring their students to explore on their own.

Due to limited facilities, we are limiting the number of visiting groups to one per day. See available dates here: program scheduler.

Don't see what you need or when? We will work with you! Contact the education coordinator at jonathan_malriat@nps.gov or call 804-224-1732 ext 259.
