Attention Prospective Gateway National Recreation Area's Sandy Hook Volunteers!

When: Saturday, April 12
Where: Meet at the Sandy Hook Visitor Center at 9:30 a.m.
What: Orientation Program for new and prospective volunteers
So What's the Hook?
That's what we'd like to have volunteers explain to our visitors. What is there to do and see at beautiful Sandy Hook? Plenty and we need your help. Can you volunteer to help us orient and assist visitors with questions about Gateway National Recreation Area's Sandy Hook Unit?
We invite anyone who is interested in volunteering at Sandy Hook to join park staff for a three hour orientation on Saturday, April 12. This program will introduce Sandy Hook to potential volunteers and will explain and answer the types questions that we get from visitors.
We will begin at the Sandy Hook Visitor Center at 9:30 a.m., and then car caravan for an orientation to visitor sites on Sandy Hook, with brief stops and tours of these areas that our volunteers will staff during the spring, summer and fall seasons.
We will describe some of the most frequently asked questions such as: Where is the bathroom? That's actually a very good question and just one example of the many important questions we get from visitors to Sandy Hook. We will point out restrooms and other areas of the park during this orientation. We'll also show the scenic and historic destinations that are popular with visitors to Sandy Hook!
Sandy Hook is a barrier beach peninsula at the northern tip of the New Jersey Shore. Its location at the entrance to New York Harbor assured Sandy Hook's importance for coastal and harbor defense.
