The NPS Centennial at First State National Historical Park
The National Park Service turned 100 on August 25, 2016! Across the agency, parks and programs held special events, rolled out new junior ranger programs, and celebrated with partners and communities in unprecedented ways.
Preparations for the big day were no different at First State NHP, as the park hosted the Deputy Secretary of the Interior, Mike Conner, and US Senator Tom Carper, to tour the sites and discuss partnerships, community programs, and connecting stories. First State NHP staff also made Centennial birthday cards for all park visitors to sign and share their favorite National Park Service memories.
There were plenty of the other momentous celebrations across the country, including The Park Exchange Series, huge citizen-science events, and much, much more. But have no fear, the party is not over! There are many events still to come, just visit the NPS Centennial page to find an exciting event near you!
