Park Planning

The Sheriff's House, a contributing structure in the New Castle Historic District NHL, was transferred to the National Park Service in 2013.  The building is the subject of some of the park's most advanced planning efforts and is proposed to be rehabilitated and re-purposed as a visitor center.

Management planning for First State National Historical Park is an ongoing process consisting of visitor experience planning, infrastructure planning, and resource protection and management planning. While much of the planning is done by the National Park Service, there will be several calls for public input and public meetings, so please check back frequently or follow us by joining the Park's e-mail list (send a request here to join) or tracking our social media posts (Instagram & Facebook). Your opinion matters.
