On The Road: Olmsted Across America

About This Blog

Beginning on November 11, 2012, Park Ranger Alan Banks will be traveling across the country and stopping along the way to visit some of the more notable Olmsted landscape designs. Much of his route will take him through the southern tier of states from South Carolina to California. He'll also stop at places that relate to general Olmsted history and biography including places like New Braunfels, Texas, where Olmsted, traveling as a correspondent for the New York Times, found the German community there a model of what "Free-Soilers" could do in a slave state. Feel free to drop him a line if you feel there is someplace you think would be worth a visit.
