Superintendent Stephen Clark presents The State of the Western Pennsylvania National Parks
Superintendent Stephen M. Clark of the Western Pennsylvania National Park Service sites will give first annual State of the Parks program in Somerset Pennsylvania. Clark will share information on upcoming restoration and construction projects, special events, new exhibits and educational programs planned for 2017.

Welcome Home Albert Gallatin:Friendship Hill Hosts Third Annual Gallatin Project
The third annual Albert Gallatin Project titled "Welcome Home Mr. Gallatin" will be held Saturday, July 25, 2015. This a one-day symposium will focus on Albert Gallatin's return home from negotiations to end the War of 1812 and preparing for retirement from public service. Attendees will enjoy a day of historically based conversation and interpretation.

Reinbold named Assistant Director for Partnerships and Civic Engagement
Jeff Reinbold has been named the National Park Service's assistant director for partnerships and civic engagement. Reinbold will be responsible for partnerships, philanthropic stewardship, national trails, wild and scenic rivers, and hydro-power assistance programs. He will also oversee the National Park Service Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program.

The National Park Service will host a two day symposium on the Louisiana Purchase and the War of 1812. The weekend will feature portrayals of Albert Gallatin and Thomas Jefferson. Programs and activities will also be available for children.

Tourism to Western PA National Parks Creates $44 Million in Economic Benefit
Report shows that 800,000 visitors to in Western Pennsylvania national park sites spent over $44 million in communities near the parks in 2012 . That spending supported 677 jobs in the region. The five parks include: Allegheny Portage Railroad NHS, Flight 93 National Memorial, Fort Necessity National Battlefield, Friendship Hill NHS, and Johnstown Flood National Memorial.

FestiFall 2012 Features Family Fun for History Buffs of All Ages
Visitors to FestiFall 2012 will be transported back in time to life in the "Western Country" from 1786 to 1832, when American statesman Albert Gallatin maintained his Fayette County estate New Geneva. FestiFall runs Saturday, September 22, and Sunday, September 23. It features period demonstrators, craftsmen, food, music, a small military encampment, and hands-on activities for children.
