Frederick Douglass Oratorical Contest

Introduction

Annually, the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site hosts an oratorical contest for students 6-18 years old. Students perform a part of a Frederick Douglass speech that they learn from memory before a panel of judges. For the 2022 Contest, there was both a "virtual" and an "in-person" contest and there were ASL interpreters available so deaf and hard of hearing students could compete in the contest.
