GO Day at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site is second largest GO Day event in the nation, with over 5,000 visitors and over 50 different partner organizations including outdoor enthusiast groups, educational leadership organizations, recreation businesses, state, local, and federal agencies. This year, you can Find Your PARK as several national park units will be at Go Day including: Olympic National Park, Mt Rainier National Park, Lewis and Clark National Historic Park, Crater Lake National Park, North Cascade National Park, and of course, your local urban national park, Fort Vancouver National Historic Site!
Combined, these organizations help to promote and encourage a healthier community by bringing awareness to public lands and outdoor recreation opportunities. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to experience hands-on activities based on historical, traditional, and modern types of outdoor recreational uses.
The event will offer a mix of information centers and “active fun” areas—a rock climbing wall, fishing tank, Find Your PARK challenge, archeology exhibit, log sawing, bird encounters with a Peregine Falcon and Great Horned Owl, “Flame Game”, bicycle course, and much much more!
Want to learn more about how to embark on an outdoor adventure? There will also be plenty of opportunities to learn more about hiking, camping, boating, backpacking, wildlife, gardening, and more! The event will also provide photo opportunities with characters like Smokey the Bear, Woodsy Owl, Ranger Rick, and their furry and feathered friends, as well.
GO Day at Fort Vancouver includes free entrance to the reconstructed Hudson's Bay Company fort.
