This summer, Fort Union National Monument will host a Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program. This is an exciting opportunity for high school students to spend the summer doing meaningful work in a national park. Dates for 2022 are June 6 - July 29.

The work projects will include tasks such as trail maintenance and construction, exotic plant control and removal, monitoring of rare plant populations, invasive moth monitoring, painting and rehabilitation projects. The position will require daily outdoor labor, working in heat, and using a variety of hand tools. This will also be an opportunity for participants to learn about the nature and history at Fort Union National Monument.

The program is open to teens 15 through 18 years of age. All applicants who meet the eligibility requirements listed on the application will be considered. Applications must be received by May 15, and can be emailed to Janice_Carpenter@nps.gov. They can also be mailed or brought to the Administrative Offices at the park. Enrollees will be selected through a random drawing. Previous enrollees may only be considered in the event that an insufficient number of new applications are received. The rate of pay will be $15.00 per hour. Hours will be Monday thru Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
