Fort Larned is six miles west of Larned, KS. See Directions for details. The site is open daily, year round, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Central time, and is only closed on major holidays. See Operating Hours & Seasons. Admission to the site is free for everyone. We suggest a minimum of two hours to see the museum exhibits, watch the film, and tour the fort's buildings. Scheduled or impromptu guided tours may be seasonally available in the summer and as staffing allows the rest of the year. You can also explore the historic sandstone buildings and the History & Nature Trail using the NPS App. Restrooms and drinking fountains are available in the visitor center and the picnic area. There is also a composting toilet located in the parking lot by the pedestrian entry bridge. Most of the buildings at Fort Larned are wheelchair accessible due to the kafka paved company strees. Check out our Accessibility page for which buildings are accessbile and how to access them. Because we don't charge an entrance fee, we don't have any of the America the Beautiful passes. The Fees & Passes page has information on getting passes from nearby sites. |
