Memorial Day Service at Fort Donelson National Cemetery
Dover, TN--On Monday, May 28, 2018 at 11:00 am, Fort Donelson National Cemetery will be the site of its annual memorial service, hosted by the NPS and the Stewart County Veterans Affairs Office, with participation by Post 72 of the American Legion, Department of Tennessee, and other veterans organizations, and local civic and scout groups.

Guest Speaker for the ceremony will be Lieutenant Colonel Kent Cavallini, who serves as M-Day State Training Officer for the Kentucky Army National Guard and as a teacher at Stewart County High School in Dover.

His previous military assignments include service as an Infantry Platoon Leader, Rifle Company Executive Officer, and Headquarters Company Executive Officer in 2nd BN, 502nd Inf. Reg., 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), OCS TAC for the KYNG, Afghan National Army Infantry Company Advisor, Asst. Operations Officer for the KYNG Regimental Training institute, OCS Commander, 149th Brigade Support Battalion Executive Officer, 149th Brigade Support Battalion Commander and 149th Military Engagement Team Deputy Commander.

"We invite everyone to join us as we pause to remember the millions of service men and women who have served and died in the defense of our nation, providing for, and maintaining the freedoms that we cherish," shared Brian McCutchen, superintendent of Fort Donelson National Cemetery and of the Fort Donelson National Battlefield.

Because of Memorial Day occurring in late May, and the national cemetery having minimal shade, those attending are encouraged to dress appropriately, bring bottled water, and as seating is not provided, consider bringing a lawn chair or blanket.
