Fort Donelson National BAttlefield celebrates 146th anniversary

Dover, Tennessee---To commemorate of the 146th anniversary of Forts Henry and Donelson, the park will host special weekend Living History camps.

 

Living History Encampment and Demonstrations
Visit with members of the 9th Kentucky Infantry (USA) as they portray Civil War camp life and re-enact military drills. 

 

The camp will be open for visitation from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1 and 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 2. Musket firings demonstrations will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. each day.

 

Fort DonelsonNB commemorates the 1862 battle between US forces led by General Ulysses S. Grant and CSA forces under Simon B. Buckner. The National Park Service preserves and protects the battlefield, surrender site, and national cemetery.

Encampments may be canceled by inclement weather. Contact FortDonelsonvisitor center, (931)232 5706 ext 106,   on day of event to verify weather conditions and status of scheduled activity.
