Junior Ranger Weekend set for 2008
Dover, Tennessee—Children and families can enjoy a special weekend filled with activities at Fort Donelson National Battlefield on June 7 and 8, 2008. Family hikes, Civil War music, and art programs will be offered for Junior Ranger Weekend, Saturday, and Sunday, June 7 & 8, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm each day.
Junior Ranger Programs reach over 1,000,000 children annually. These programs promote learning about our National Parks through discovery and hands-on study. This special weekend is open to new participants as well as Junior Rangers who have already received their Fort Donelson NB badges.
The weekend event requires reservations in advance or by noon the day of the event. All programs are free for children ages 5-12 years, but parental supervision is required. Please contact the Ranger staff at 931-232-5706 x103 or x104 to make reservations.
Fort Donelson NB commemorates the 1862 battle that resulted in the first major US victory of the Civil War. The National Park Service preserves the historic fort and earthworks, surrender site, and national cemetery. Visit the park’s website, www.nps.gov/fodo, for an entire list of Ranger Programs and park events for summer 2008.
