Fort Donelson National Battlefield encourages children to become a part of the National Park family by allowing them to explore the park, complete activities in the Junior Ranger Handbook and attend a  Ranger program, then receive a park badge and certificate. It is a great way to learn about the battlefield and its important resources and history.

The park sponsors month-long events to commemorate the 1862 Civil War battles at Forts Henry, Heiman, and Donelson. The National Park Service preserves the forts, surrender site, and national cemetery. Visit the park’s website: www.nps.gov/fodo for a listing of Special Events in February 2008.

Program materials will be supplied by the park. Parents or guardians are required to accompany children to the programs. For more information about these events, contact the staff at Fort Donelson National Battlefield at 931-232-5706 x 104.
