DOVER, TN – Fort Donelson National Battlefield will celebrate the National Junior Ranger Day with children’s activities including stream cleanups and other environmental programs on April 25, 2015.Programs are free, but reservations are required.Activities will be held at Fort Heiman, Calloway County, KY. Prizes and giveaways will be provided.In case of inclement weather, activities will be held on May 16, 2015.
Working with partners at the Four Rivers Watershed Watch, Jackson Purchase Foundation, Calloway County Cooperative Extension Office, Calloway County Conservation District, the Kentucky Orphans Brigade Reenactors, and other volunteers, the national park will host a historical reenactment of daily life at the Fort, various water stewardship programs, stream clean-ups, and short hikes around the historic fort.The Calloway County 4-H club will also assist the park staff and volunteers with a sustainable landscape project using native plants.Programs begin at 10 am.Materials and tools will be provided.
