Fort Donelson Announces Junior Ranger Day 2016 Activities for April 23 at Fort Heiman

 Junior Ranger Day Activities to be held at Fort Heiman April 23, 2016 Dover, TN: Join Fort Donelson National Battlefield staff, park partners, and volunteers to celebrate National Junior Ranger Day with a variety of children and family activities. Programs are free, but reservations are recommended. Activities will be held at the Fort Heiman Unit of the Fort Donelson national park, near New Concord, Kentucky. Participants can earn Junior Ranger badges by helping with shoreline cleanup, planting of a sustainable native butterfly garden, nature hikes, and history programs. Supplies and materials will be provided. Please meet park staff and partners at 11 am near the Fort Heiman pavilion, 682 Fort Heiman Road. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Visitors can also learn about the Kentucky National Park Pentathlon program, which honors the National Park Service 2016 Centennial. The event ends at noon. The Junior Ranger Day events will be cancelled in case of inclement weather. For reservations, please contact 270-753-5151 x 3.
