Dover, Tennessee--The National Park Service will celebrate the 147th anniversary of the battles of Forts Henry, Heiman, and Donelson with weekend special events, February 14 & 15, 2009.
The 9th Kentucky Infantry (USA) will open their Civil War camp, Saturday, February 14, 10 am - 4 pm, and Sunday, February 15, 10 am - 3 pm. The 50th Tennessee Infantry (CSA) will be camped on Saturday, February 14, from 10 am - 4 pm. Visitors are welcomed. Historic musket firing programs are scheduled; please contact the Ranger staff for more information.
Speaking of Ladies: Historical Presentations by Miss Ellie will also be held on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the park visitor center. The programs are especially entertaining for children. Miss Ellie programs will be held at 1 pm and 3 pm.
A local group of Living History re-enactors will host a Soldier "Meet and Greet" and a Ladies Tea at the Dover Hotel on February 14, from 11 am - 3 pm. The public is welcomed to visit the historic Dover Hotel and see how 19th century women supported the Civil War troops.
