Steven McCoy, Superintendent Fort Donelson National Battlefield, is pleased to announce the return of Mr. Jim Jean, as Brigadier General S.B. Buckner, and Mr. Ron Bair as Brigadier General U.S. Grant, on the 17th and 18th of February 2007.

Visit theFort Donelson visitor center on Saturday the 17th of February at10:00 a.m.and hear General Grant discuss the Union Army’s actions during the battle for Forts Henry and Donelson. At11:00 a.m., General Buckner will speak on the Confederate defense of the fort.


FortDonelson Surrenders Witness a re-creation of the February 1862 surrender of FortDonelson on February 18th at 1:30p.m. Dover Hotel (Surrender House).

Civil War Encampment Visit with members of the 50th TN Infantry Regiment (CSA) as they portray camp and soldier life during the 1862 Battle for FortDonelson. This unit actually served at FortDonelson during the battle. The unit will demonstrate military training, clothing and equipment. The camp will be open from 10 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on the 17th. Musket firing demonstrations may be conducted. Stop by the visitor center for an up-to-date schedule of events.

Civil War EncampmentVisit with members of the 9th Kentucky Infantry (USA) as they portray Civil War camp life, military drill and training. The camp will be open for visitation from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24 and 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25. Musket firings demonstrations will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. each day.
