On the left, by the parking lot, is a diorama showing what fossil quarrying looks like.  On the right railing, curving around the visitor center, is a geologic timeline from the creation of the Earth to current time.  Behind the visitor center is Fossil Butte.  As you enter the visitor center, an exhibit case is directly in front of you. Around the case to the right is the front desk. The restrooms are to the left as you enter, down a 5 to 10-foot hallway between a rock wall and an exhibit of a virtual aquarium. As you enter the visitor center, you enter the main room, there is another room if you walk straight from the front door and around an exhibit case.  To the right of the front door is the bookstore, to the left of which is the front desk. If you continue down the hallway between the front desk and the bookstore, there is the movie room on your left through a curtain. If you instead continue straight, you will exit two sets of double doors to the back porch where there is a view of Fossil Butte. There are thousands of fossils on display in the visitor center, including an exhibit in the restrooms. An audio description phone app of some of the specimens is available.  There is an audio-described film available.
