A total of 130 students from two Central Valley schools&#8212;Harvest Elementary School (Delano, CA) and Di Giorgio Elementary School (Arvin, CA)&#8212;participated in the event. Ch&#225;vez served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 1st Class from 1946 &#8211; 1948.
