The Marine
Camp
The Marine Camp was the permanent home to the Marines who built the structures and roads at Rapidan, and helped provide security for the President. The Marines also did training here.
Can you imagine joining the Marines and being stationed in the Blue Ridge Mountatins of Virginia to help build and provide maintenance for Rapidan? Legend has it that one week the Marines painted all of the rocks that lined the extensive walkways of the camp white. However, Mrs. Hoover wanted a natural theme at the camp and hated the white rocks.
