This bottle was made by Illinois Pacific Glass Co. of San Francisco, California, and has a maker's mark consisting of "IPGCo" in a diamond. The vertical seams on the bottle indicate it was made with an Automatic Bottle Machine versus being hand blown.

The crown finish (neck) on this bottle implies that it once held liquor. The aqua color of the bottle is due to natural iron impurities in the sand that was used to make the glass.

Blasting caps were small explosive devices that were used to detonate dynamite in the mines.

Arizona Tax Coin

In the 1930s, many states began to charge a sales tax. This often led to the total cost coming down to fractions of a cent. In order to prevent either the retailer or the customer from profiting by rounding up or down, tax coins were introduced. The practice of using sales tax coins died out in the 1950's.

A mining claim (LAKE 20303) for the the "Light Lode Claim" was found inside this can. It was common to place a claim inside a can such as this and many have been found in the park. The paper is now so fragile it can not be handled without prior treatment.
