  • have an attention to detail and desire to connect with visitors of all backgrounds
  • display friendliness and a positive attitude
  • have great customer service skills
  • have prior experience handling money
What You Do

VUAs are usually the first contact the public has with an NPS employee. Sometimes, you might be the only NPS employee a visitor sees. You provide accurate information to visitors concerning the park area and surrounding areas of interest. The VUA explains activities and recreational opportunities, accessible areas for people with disabilities, and hiking opportunities. The VUAs may also collect fees at a Visitor Center or a fee booth.
