Superintendent Mary Risser announced that the draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Hazard Tree Management Plan for Dinosaur National Monument is available for public review. The Hazard Tree Management Plan will outline a long-term, comprehensive program to manage hazard trees within Dinosaur National Monument. The plan will address identification of hazard trees, options for identified hazard trees, and management strategies to treat hazard trees in the different management zones and designated use areas within the monument.
The Draft Environmental Assessment is available for review on the park planning web site http://parkplanning.nps.gov (search for Dinosaur NM). Hard copies of the draft EA will be available for review at the Superintendent’s Office, Dinosaur National Monument and at the county public libraries in Vernal, Utah, and Maybell, Dinosaur, and Craig, Colorado.
Public comments will be accepted until August 3, 2007. You may post your comments electronically at http://parkplanning.nps.gov or mail comments by this date to the following:
