Since Dinosaur National Monument has a range of elevations going from desert to mountains, visitors are reminded to prepare for a variety of conditions. Visitors should bring water and wear sunscreen to protect themselves during the day. Warmer clothing may also be needed for nighttime temperatures. Dinosaur's rivers are extremely cold and swift this time of year. Swimming is not recommended anywhere in the monument.
Additional fee free days in 2012 are National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 29, and the Veterans Day weekend, November 10-12.
