A field trip to Devils Tower National Monument is a great way to enforce classroom concepts through experiential learning. The park is always open for teachers to bring their students. We are happy to offer resources and assistance for planning your trip. Scroll down to see a listing of the different field trips the park offers. All programs are open to any group type or size.
Ranger-Led Field Trips
Details about ranger-led environmental education programs can be found below. These programs are more than just a fun field trip; they are an extension of classroom lessons. Teachers are important partners in the planning and execution of these programs. As such, teachers are expected to prepare their students before the trip and take an active role during the program.
To request a field trip, fill out the online field trip request form. Program requests must be made at least 4 weeks in advance. Requests made on short notice may not be granted due to staffing limitations. Once you have submitted the request form, a ranger will contact you to finalize the details of your trip.
Programs are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. May is the busiest month for field trips - consider bringing your class earlier in the school year for more flexibility in scheduling your trip.
2018-2019 School Year
Ranger-led education programs are available for schools and other groups. Due to staffing, education programs will not be available on Fridays or Saturdays.
Academic Fee Waivers
Groups who have scheduled a ranger-led environmental education program do not need to apply separately for a fee waiver. Your fee waiver application is included in your request for a program. Education groups leading their own trips must still apply for a fee waiver. Waivers should be submitted at least two weeks prior to your trip. Fee waiver questions can be directed to the park's fee office, which can be reached via email (DETO_Fee_Office@nps.gov) or by phone: 307.467.5283 x741.
