      <description>Mountaineering Ranger Robin Pendery died on June 4, 2026. She lost her life in a mountaineering accident while working a West Buttress patrol. This was her second season with the Park Service after guiding McKinley several times for Alpine Ascents. She had worked there since 2015 and also worked as an ER nurse when she was not working for the Park Service. Her career was marked by her service and dedication to others.</description>

      <description>As of Monday morning, there are 513 climbers on Mt. McKinley, mainly on the West Buttress route. 97 climbers have completed their trips, and there are 381 climbers left to check-in and begin their climbs. We are at the height of the season.</description>

      <title>Field Report - May 25, 2026</title>

      <description>As of Monday, there are 28 registered backcountry climbers in the Alaska Range. There are a handful of hopeful teams in Basecamp waiting for weather for some of the more technical routes on the North Buttress of Mt. Hunter. There are a few ski teams in the Pika, and a few Denali prep courses also based out of Basecamp.</description>
