National Park Service to Temporarily Close Towpath Trail Section in Valley View

Brecksville, Ohio – The Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail will be closed from 6:00 a.m. Monday March 6, 2017 through March 2018 between Hillside Road and Stone Road in Valley View.

From Monday March 6 to Friday May 26, 2017 the trail section will be completely closed.

Beginning May 27, the trail will be open on weekends and holidays (May 29, July 3, and July 4), but closed Monday – Friday, through July 31. Following July 31, 2017 a complete closure will again be in effect.

There will be no detour available.

The temporary closure is necessary for public safety while a contractor with the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District performs major river bank stabilization work along the Towpath Trail.

This information line is answered by staff at Boston Store Visitor Center. Core hours are 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and hours may be extended during peak season. Boston Store Visitor Center is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
