Brecksville, Ohio – The National Park Service announced today that the railroad crossing at SR 303 in the Village of Peninsula has reopened ahead of schedule. The crossing was expected to be closed until 5 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2011. Work involved replacing the deteriorated railroad crossing to provide safer travel for the public using SR 303, and was part of an ongoing project to rehabilitate nine miles of rail being completed Railroad Constructors, Inc.
The National Park Service owns the historic Valley Railway on which Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad operates scenic excursions and educational programs year-round.
This project was funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
CVNP encompasses 33,000 acres along the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio.
