Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Peninsula, Ohio (Friday, February 7, 2012) - The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park's Environmental Education Center (EEC) will be hosting two separate weekends for Girl Scouts that will help them earn badges while learning and exploring in a national park setting.
Troops will hike, practice survival skills, and learn about Northeast Ohio's plants and animals to complete work towards new Girl Scout Journey Badges. Badge categories include Camper, Gardener, and Animal Habitats. Evening activities include a staff-led night hike with campfire and a "make-it, take-it" spa night. The program will take place Friday, April 13 through Sunday, April 15 or Friday, May 18 through Sunday, May 20.
Environmental Education Coordinator Jennifer Bucheit, who is in her fifth year of organizing the annual event, always enjoys working with a new group of Girl Scouts to help them earn badges.
She commented, "This is a great opportunity for scouts to meet other girls from neighboring troops and councils. It is a chance for troops to bond in comfortable and convenient settings, while working towards earning badges. I can't wait for the smiles and laughs that always accompany the Girl Scouts."
