Brecksville, Ohio– Due to excessive flooding the National Park Service has closed the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in Cuyahoga Valley National Park until further notice. Multiple sections of the trail are anticipated to be affected by the flooding. The trail closure includes associated parking lots from Lock 39 Trailhead in Independence to Botzum Trailhead in Akron. National Park Service staff will make assessments of trail conditions for resource and visitor safety before reopening the trail.
Due to the flooding, the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad's programThe Polar Express is cancelled for tonight. All tickets will automatically be refunded. For any additional questions, please call 800-468-4070.
The Winter Warm-ups hike scheduled at 9 a.m. Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Ira Trailhead is cancelled.

Please respect all park closures for the safety of visitors, resource, and park staff. Please do not drive through moving water or designated closed areas.
