Cuyahoga Valley National Park Volunteer Program Building a Community of Park Stewards

Brecksville, Ohio - Be part of the nation's largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands! The National Park Service and the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park want your help in habitat restoration and trail repair on Saturday, September 28, 2013, in Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP). This half-day event is part of National Public Lands Day, a nationwide effort that promotes stewardship and enhancement of America’s public lands. The event is sponsored by Sprint and is a part of TRAILS FOREVER, a program to directly engage the public in helping ensure that the trail system in CVNP is adequately maintained, enhanced, expanded and preserved for all time, for all people.

Volunteers can choose from two projects in CVNP:

 Removing invasive plant species to help restore native habitat

 Trail maintenance to help ensure that the trails system in CVNP is carefully preserved

Volunteers will receive a fee free, single-use pass for a federal public land area that has entrance fees.

Advance registration is required by Wednesday, September 25 via online registration at (click on "Volunteer"),, or 330-657-2299. If you would like to register a group of up to 10 individuals, please call 330-657-2299 for more information. Projects are family-friendly with parent or guardian supervision: ages 10 and up for invasive plant removal, and ages seven and up for trail maintenance. Tools provided. Dress for the weather; wear sturdy boots and long, thick pants.
