Replication Scopes

The Replication Scopes dialog lists the named scopes registered for the site.  Access this dialog by expanding Replication in the left panel of the Site Administration dashboard and selecting Replication Scopes to create or change records that define the limits of replication actions.

For each replication record, the scope identifies the information sets transferred. A single replication target may have several different replication records, each with its own scope. The default replication scope includes Page Data and File Systems. Note that you cannot delete this scope.

Click the edit icon to modify a scope through the Edit Replication Scope dialog.

Click the delete icon to remove a scope record.  Note that you cannot delete scopes currently used within replication records. See the Remove Replication Scope dialog for more information.

To specify parameters for the new scope, click Add New Replication Scope.

Click Close to exit.

Best Practice Notes:

Under standard configurations, set Replication Duration to Replicate content since last replication. Full replications (non-incremental), when needed, can still be performed manually even when this scope option is set to incremental replication. It is not necessary to schedule a Full replication as the incremental replications will update site content properly on the target server(s).

Under standard configurations, only Page Data and File System data are required scope selections. The additional options, including search collection actions, increase performance time and load on the target server. CommonSpot automatically performs any required search engine actions on page changes, even when this option is unselected. If your setup requires a Search Engine Scope, create a unique replication record with the appropriate scope and schedule sparingly or replicate on-demand.
