ColdFusion Integration

For all site types (intranet, Internet or extranet), content typically falls into one of two categories: structured and unstructured content.

CommonSpot’s rich distributed, anywhere publishing features provide a solid foundation for handling your site’s unstructured content.

Structured data (for example, data contained in proprietary structured repositories such as an inventory database, or a real-time newsfeed) is often best handled through custom code or other 3rd party vertical software applications.

CommonSpot supports the integration of structured data components with flexible interfaces for integrating structured ColdFusion applications or modules. Through these easy-to-use interfaces, developers can leverage the power of ColdFusion to build/integrate existing or new applications. Developers can write custom ColdFusion code at both the template and Element levels.

For more information on ColdFusion Base Templates, refer to the Base Templates discussion in the CommonSpot Developer’s Guide and the Template Developer's Guide.  For more information on writing code for Custom Script Elements, review the Custom Script section of the CommonSpot Developer’s Guide.

In addition to using programmatic integration to control content display and formatting, developers can use custom code to output structured content processed through the CommonSpot Element/Render Handler functions. For more information, see the Render Handlers section of the CommonSpot Developer’s Guide and Defining Render Handlers.

CommonSpot also provides developers with a rich set of low-level event hooks and API interfaces for integrating and customizing CommonSpot

See API Help and the CommonSpot Developer’s Guide for more information.
