Add SEO Rule

This dialog displays when you either add a new SEO rule or edit an existing rule in the SEO Page Grading Rules dialog. Use this dialog to view, enter, or edit values for rules used to rank your pages for the selected Reporting Group.

When adding a new rule, the dialog initially looks like this:

Choosing a Rule Definition from the dropdown populates the rest of the dialog.

Complete the following fields:

Rule Definition: Pick from the dropdown for registered Rule Definitions. See Site Admin – Search Engines /SEO – Page Grading Rule Definitions for more information about how to create and register site-wide rule definitions. This field may be read-only if you don't have manage rules rights. See SEO Reporting Security Permissions for more information.
Rule Title: Enter an alternate display name for the rule.
Deficient Score: Required. Define a deficiency level. Typically this registers on a scale of 1-10 to define the level at or below which a page is considered SEO deficient.
Weight Multiplier: All rules are not equal. You can assign a greater weight to rules by applying a weight multiplier. CommonSpot factors in this weighting when determining the overall page grade.
- Set this to 1 if you want no additional weight applied to the rule, or
- Enter an integer greater than 1by which the rule value will be multiplied to increase its weight in the overall page grade.
Active: Activate to make this rule run within the Reporting Group. Leave unchecked to exclude it.
Parameters: These vary for each rule. The parameters in the screenshot above let you customize how to score the rule, but this may not be the case for other rules.

Click Save to keep your settings and update page grade rules, or Cancel to exit without saving.
