Fence Crew Member

Wage: $9.00/ hour
Hours: Up to 200 hours (up to $1,800)
Start: Immediately End: October 31, 2008 (weather permitting)

Schedule: 40 hours per week; 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; weekdays

To build and maintain fences to control cattle distribution within City of Rocks National Reserve and Castle Rocks State Park

Duties: Build fence of various types, including barbed wire and post & pole Dig post holes, usually by hand, and set posts; stretch wire Build line and corner braces Clear brush from fence lines using hand tools, including chainsaw and loppers Inspect fences and perform needed maintenance

Minimum Qualifications: Legal US resident 18 years old or older High School Diploma/GED Current driver’s license Ability to work independently and perform physically-demanding manual labor outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and terrain, sometimes alone, especially in the backcountry

Scenic City of Rocks is a 14,407-acre unit of the National Park System. Located in the Albion Mountains of southern Cassia County, the Reserve features towering granite spires, world-class rock climbing, and 6.25 miles of the California National Historic Trail. The three-unit, 1,440-acre Castle Rocks State Park is also managed from this location.
