The scenic drive and visitor center at Cedar Breaks National Monument will open for the season on Friday, June 17th. The snow conditions delayed the park opening by three weeks. Rangers will offer guided snowshoe walks twice daily at 12pm and 2pm, while snow conditions remain favorable for the activity. Because of the limited number of snowshoes, visitors are asked to sign up at the fee booth prior to the scheduled program. Snow depths in most areas of the park remain at three to four feet or more, with much deeper drifts in places. Limited visibility due to high banks of snow along the roadway present a safety hazard to drivers, especially when driving around highway curves and pulling in and out of parking lots. Visitors are asked to drive carefully and to not stop on the roadway. Visitors should also be very aware and cautious of icy and snowy conditions when walking at the scenic overlooks.
