Cedar Breaks National Monument, UT- Cedar Breaks Scenic Drive known as State Highway 148 will soon open for the summer season. It is estimated the road will be cleared of snow and open to vehicles the morning of Tuesday June 4th.
Visitor services, such as restrooms, the Information Center and ranger programs will be available beginning June 7th. A few feet of snow still cover all the park’s trails. Park overlooks have ice and snow patches. Visitors are advised to use caution while in the park and to follow all posted signs. The Point Supreme Campground is estimated to be open to the public in late June.
“We are excited to open visitor services for the season and share the magnificent snow covered vistas created by this spring’s storms with everyone.” said Kathleen Gonder, Superintendent of Cedar Breaks National Monument. “We anticipate a spectacular wildflower display this season and are looking forward to a great summer in the high country.”
Cedar Break National Monument would also like to remind the public that heavy vehicles will be prohibited from using SR 148 until the subsurface has dried. A heavy vehicle is defined as any vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating greater than 26000 lbs. Road signs outlining the weight restriction are posted on all routes leading to the Monument to remind trucks and other heavy vehicles to use alternate routes.
