It is estimated the road will be cleared and open to vehicles by May 15 (depending on weather conditions.) Visitor services, such as restrooms and the Information Center will not be available until May 25th. The Alpine Pond, Spectra Point and Ramparts Trails are currently closed due to excessive snowdrifts, fallen trees and to protect park resources from damage. Park overlooks, the Sunset and Campground trails are open but have snow and mud in some areas, visitors are advised to use caution. The Point Supreme Campground will open early June.
Cedar Break National Monument would also like to remind the public that, heavy vehicles will be prohibited from using SR 148. A heavy vehicle is defined as any vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating greater than 26000 lbs. Road signs outlining the weight restriction are posted on all routes leading to the Monument to remind trucks and other heavy vehicles to use alternate routes.
