The staff of Cedar Breaks National Monument will be hosting a 2007 Volunteer in Parks (VIP) meeting on Tuesday April 10th at 7pm. “We are looking for interested and motivated people of all backgrounds and skill levels to join our existing cadre of volunteers “ said Paul Roelandt, Superintendent at Cedar Breaks NM. “We have a number of exciting special projects and events planned for the coming summer season, and each requires volunteers from our local communities to make them successful” he continued.
The list of events include a Wildflower Festival (July 1 – July 22), Monument Birthday events (August 18 -19),and Fall Colors special events(mid Sept.- mid Oct. ) as well as assisting with special astronomy presentations, nature walks, geology talks and sunset programs. There are also projects that are as varied as assisting NPS crews with installation of new telephone and internet access systems, rehabilitating employee housing or assisting with the park’s recycling program. “We feel there is a place on the volunteer staff for just about anyone who has an interest in participating” said Roelandt. Light refreshments will be served at the meeting, which will be held at the Cedar Breaks administrative office, located at 2390 West Highway 56, just east of the Convergsys building in the Blackrock Village office complex.
