National Park Service Announces

Park Advisory Commission Meeting tobe Held March 21st

Cedar Creek and Belle Grove NationalHistorical Park announces the next meeting of the Park Advisory Commission willbe held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Middletown Town Hall, 7875 Church Street,Middletown, Virginia. The meeting willbegin at 8:30 a.m. and is open to the public.

The March meeting will include a welcomefor, and introductory remarks by, both Jim Northup (new Superintendent ofShenandoah National Park and Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National HistoricalPark) and Amy Bracewell (new Site Manager for Cedar Creek and Belle GroveNational Historical Park). Other topicswill include updates on several new projects, including park signage, a newpark brochure and the park's new Visitor Contact Station.

Individuals who are interested in thepark, these projects and topics, or the business of the Advisory Commission areencouraged to attend the March 21, 2013 meeting. Questions may be directed to Eric Campbell,Acting Site Manager, at (540) 868-9176.

About Cedar Creek and Belle Grove NationalHistorical Park:Cedar Creek and Belle Grove commemoratesa nationally significant Civil War landscape and antebellum plantation bysharing the story of Shenandoah Valley history from early settlement throughthe Civil War and beyond. The park is located within the Shenandoah ValleyBattlefields National Historic District, a National Heritage Area.

Created on December 19, 2002, the park encompassesapproximately 3,700 acres across three counties and includes the key partnersites of Belle Grove Plantation (owned by the National Trust for HistoricPreservation and managed by Belle Grove, Inc.), Cedar Creek BattlefieldFoundation lands and Headquarters, Shenandoah Valley Battlefield Foundationlands, and a developing Shenandoah County Park. The partner sites continue tobe owned and operated independently.
