CARLSBAD, NM – Carlsbad Caverns National Park will close on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's days. The park determined, through cost analysis, that it was more expensive to keep the park open on these holidays with relatively low visitation. Historically, the park has only closed on Christmas Day, but last year two additional holiday closures were added. The closures include the visitor center and access to all caves.
The park's famous caverns will reopen the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 28 at 8 a.m. Visitor center hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last entry into the cave via the natural entrance is at 2 p.m. and last entry via the elevators is at 3:30 p.m.
