Below are photographs of various types of animals including mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, insects and arachnids that can be found in Catoctin Mountain Park.
- Reptiles have backbones, scaly skin, breathe with lungs and most have three-chambered hearts (some have four-chambered hearts).
- The internal temperature of their bodies varies, depending on the environment.
- Most reptiles lay eggs, but some give live birth.
- Except for snakes and some legless lizards (all of the lizards in Catoctin Mountain Park have legs), they have paired limbs with claws on their toes.
