Schedule of Events for NPS Centennial at Cabrillo

Schedule of Events for activities at Cabrillo for the NPS Centennial, also known as Founder's Day on August 25, 2016.

Note the admission is free for the dates August 25-28 to celebrate the centennial of the NPS.

Lighthouse Open Tower
10am – 3pm: Get in line for the opportunity to climb to the top of the lighthouse. The line closes promptly at 3pm. (no purses and backpacks policy in effect, free bag check will be available)

Antique Vehicle Display
10am – 3pm: The Horseless Carriage Car Club joins us for this historic event, some cars on display date back to 1916.

Military History Open Bunker
10am – 3pm: Location: Battery Command E.

Centennial Cake Celebration
11am – 1pm: The Cabrillo National Monument Foundation will serve free cake (while supplies last). Location: back patio of the Visitor Center.

Lighthouse Postcard Painting
12pm – 2pm: Join our Artist in Residence for this fun art project and paint a watercolor postcard of the lighthouse (while supplies last)

Centennial Jr. Ranger Program
All Day – All ages welcome, pick up a program in the Visitor Center.

National Park Service Exhibit
All Day: Send post card to your favorite National Park and pin the map in the Visitors Center to let us know how far you traveled to get to Cabrillo.

Ranger Talks and Guided Tours

9:30am - Presentation of Colors and Welcome Message by Superintendent Compton

10:30am - National Park System: Caring for the American Legacy (meet at the flagpole)

11:30am - 100 years of Service, Highlighting National Park Service History (auditorium)

12:30pm - Memories, Growing up at the New Point Loma Lighthouse (auditorium)

1:30pm - Walkabout Cabrillo, Guided Park Tour (meet at the flagpole)

2:30pm - National Park Service Trivia (auditorium)

3:30pm - 100 years of Service, Highlighting National Park Service History (auditorium)
