On June 19, 1865, General Gordon Granger arrived in Texas to issue General Order #3. This order did what the Emancipation Proclamation intended to do in January of 1863; enslaved people were freed! Celebrations erupted in Texas! These celebrations became known as Juneteenth. Join us as we celebrate our freedom with a FREE gospel concert, children’s activities, food vendors, and a Living History Guild presentation that recreates the moment Booker T. Washington experienced emancipation!

The event is from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Gospel music groups are scheduled for the following times:

11:10 a.m.   VICTORIOUZ PRAIZE (11:10 – 11:25 p.m.)
12:20 p.m.   ENVUE (12:30-12:40 p.m.)
