As of Monday, June 4, 2007, Pedro Ramos, Acting Superintendent, Big Cypress National Preserve, announced that the Florida Trail from U.S. 41 north to Interstate 75 is reopened to hiking traffic. Additionally, all areas of the Preserve south of Interstate 75 within the Addition Lands have reopened.
The Florida Trail remains closed in areas north of Interstate 75 to the northern boundary of the Preserve due to firefighting activities.
The closure related to recreational access into all areas of the Preserve north of I-75 remains in place until further notice.
