Big Cypress National Preserve will implement new camping fees beginning October 1, 2013 for the various campgrounds. Fees will range from $10.00 per night for tent campsites and up to $30 per night for RV sites with hook-ups and at the newly designated Pinecrest Group Campground.  The RV dump station will charge $10 per use, for those not staying in a NPS campground. For details on campgrounds and pricing go to -

Campsites can be reserved online at or by calling, toll free at - 877-444-6777. Reservations can be made beginning September 1, 2013 for any dates after October 1.

Midway and Monument Lake Campgrounds are currently designated fee areas. The remaining developed campgrounds: Burns Lake, Mitchell’s Landing, Bear Island and the Pink Jeep and Gator Head Backcountry Campgrounds in the Bear Island Unit will now charge for camping on a per night, year-round basis. The Pinecrest Campground will be converted to a group campground and will have associated fees as well.

One hundred percent of the camping fees will provide a vital source of revenue directly related to the operation of Big Cypress National Preserve campgrounds and our online reservation service.  The funds will support maintenance, ranger operations and campground hosts.

Fee rates are based on a study of comparable sites in the surrounding area to ensure that increases are appropriate and competitive with current market conditions.  Public meeting and comment periods were held with participation from local community members, campground users and local businesses. Those holding the Senior Pass (for U.S. residents age 62 and over) and Access Pass (for permanently disabled U.S. residents) of the "National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass Series" will receive a 50% discount on camping fees. For more about the program go to -
