The next meeting of the Big Cypress National Preserve's Off-road Vehicle Advisory Committee (ORVAC) will be held on Thursday, August 30 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Big Cypress Swamp Welcome Center in the auditorium at 33000 Tamiami Trail East, Ochopee, FL 34141.
Prior to the meeting members of the ORVAC will join Preserve staff in the field in the Bear Island Unit to provide members with background and a better understanding of issues and also equip them with knowledge that is important to all the work the ORVAC does to provide the National Park Service with recommendations on ORV related issues in any area of the Preserve. The field trip to Bear Island will provide context so that committee members can be personally familiar with the area in order to best participate in future discussions about next steps in that particular unit of the Preserve as well as in the Preserve generally.
The orientation field trip will be discussed in a public forum during the ORVAC meeting to be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
