Uphill from the Horseshoe Bend Marina and picnic area, nestled in sagebrush and juniper woodland communities, the 48 campsites of the Horseshoe Bend Campground overlook the Bighorn Lake and the red sandstone cliffs of Sykes Mountain. The campground is located 14 miles north of Lovell, Wyoming via WY Hwy 37. During the winter of 2007-08 Bighorn Canyon employees, using fee money, refurbished 20 sites to accommodate larger RVs and boats. Electrical hook-ups, water hook-ups and wind break fences were added to theses sites.  The remaining sites were left unchanged and are a perfect fit for small RVs or tents.

Bighorn Canyon is soliciting public comment for a cost recovery utility fee for the electrical and water hook-ups in the improved sites only at Horseshoe Bend. The comment period will be open for thirty days beginning on January 15, 2009 and going through February 17, 2009. Bighorn Canyon is suggesting a fee of $15, $20, or $25.

The public is urged to fill out and return the Bighorn Canyon comment card. The comment card can be found on the Bighorn Canyon Website at on the Horseshoe Bend page or can be picked up at the Cal Taggart Bighorn Canyon Visitor Center in Lovell, Wyoming. Cards will also be available at the Friends of Bighorn Lake Annual meeting January 15, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and at the Great Rocky Mountain Sports Show in Billings, Montana from January 16 through January 18, 2009.
