Ok-A-Beh and Horseshoe Bend Marina Remains Closed Due to Low Water Levels
The high level of snowfall in the mountains coupled with a mild spring have left the reservoir level at extremely low levels. The Bureau of Reclamation has drained the reservoir in preparation for the spring runoff. Levels have begun to rise, but are still at levels too low to have operations at Horseshoe Bend and Ok-A-Beh marinas. The lake elevation as of May 29, 2014 is 3606.28, almost four feet higher than last week.
Again this weekend, there will be no fuel available on the lake. At this time Maintenance staff cannot safely install the necessary piping and fuel lines due to the rocky conditions of the shore line at Ok-A-Beh. The courtesy dock and bathrooms at the upper parking lot of the Ok-A-Beh Marina will be open. The restrooms next to the marina remain closed. Boaters are reminded that gas and food will not be available at the either marina, but can still purchase fuel at the Yellowtail Market in Fort Smith or in Lovell at several locations.
The Barry's Landing and Ok-A-Beh boat ramps are open and have the courtesy docks in. The floating restrooms are located at Barry's Landing, Dryhead, Dayboard 9, and Black Canyon. Medicine Creek docks and floating restroom will not be installed until the lake gets to elevation 3635. All campgrounds are open. The utilities have been turned on at Horseshoe Bend. The fee for utility sites is fifteen dollars per night.
